Do you or does anyone have a UA-cam recommendation on what to do with paperwork? (Receipts, old bank statements, medical reports, bills, paycheck stubs, credit card receipts, mail junk and appreciated, sale flyers, etc...... I tend to deal with my paperwork the exact way you deal with it in hoarding homes videos... just stuff it in more and more boxes. Anyone have a good website (not boring) on paperwork sorting logic. I'm retired and I still have paycheck stubs from all of my jobs since I was 17. Probably some type of hoarding disorder. I do have depression. Please help anyone. Thanks Lynn from California!

I don't think these people are as poor as they are lazy and neglectful. My home is 62 years old and still has the original trim and original kitchen cabinet doors. Where did the trim and cabinet doors go?

Parents are people and don't know everything. I found my son to be not only a pig but an ahole as well. Of course, constant fights, though I love him with all my heart. Finally, i i have decided that nothing can be done, unless some day he chooses to. When I try to show him videos like this, he gets very angry. Also, my husband, from the middle -east, had custody of him as a child.But naturally, also, he seems to have not taken after me, in any way that i can see. Choose well, everything you do in life. Take into serious account the culture and conduct of every person you interact with, and how they treat people other than you.

I am a new sub… I wanted to let you know that we live about 30 minutes north of you and I retired from Special Ed. I loved working with autistic students! I had a student who was very high functioning and he could tell you what day you were born on if you just told him your birthday. 😊thank you for what you do for people!

It's extremely intuitive for me, but you're right, for millions of others it's not and particularly males of the third world, who are encultured to treat their women as slaves who are expected to clean after the men. That's why they're the third world, lol! I actually consider them tenth world and beyond, that's how DISGUSTING their mentality is!

So there's something I just thought of right now when you were talking about the boxes and boxes of paperwork. I was taught by my mom that I should keep seven years' worth of paystubs and bill stubs just in case I was ever audited. I learned only last summer or the summer before that I don't have to save any of that stuff. Thankfully it all fit in a two-drawer filing cabinet, but it really was a huge pain to have to keep filing all those papers away. It was glorious to get rid of it all haha. But the reason I mentioned that is because some of these people with hoarding disorder might have been told similar things. I know they have way more papers than just pay and bill stubs, but I just wanted to share what I was taught by my mom, just to give snother possible reason, aside from the disorder itself, as to why certain paperwork might have been saved.

Something that helped me was asking a friend to help clean. I paid her to come once a month for an hour. Just knowing that someone was coming to clean was a significant mental relief. It helped me get my feet underneath me. When I am feeling good enough to help, body doubling is great because I have adhd/autism, fibromyalgia, and depression. Asking for help is really hard when struggling with depression. I am so blessed to have a friend that is empathetic. I also realize that not everyone can afford to pay someone to clean. This helped me, perhaps it will help someone else too.

Although this scheme wouldn’t work for my kitchen, the contrast here is fantastic and I like it. ❤

One of my fears is to end up like this. I'm a 48-year-old bachelor. This summer I've been purging my possessions and trying to create systems and rules for what comes in, and to make it easier to clean. It's so easy to just step over your own mess when you live alone. I'm glad you respect the owner's possessions. I think a lot of us do a good job purging when we can see that excess. My difficulty has always been that I'm good at storing things.

Looks amazing. Thank you for what you do, and for the indirect encouragement you give to people struggling with mental health. It is good for the soul to see the before and after and gives us hope that things can change for the better!

I used to have a problem with this! What helped was that, every time I needed to throw something away, I had to throw away/clean one thing on the floor. It made the cleaning process so much more manageable and now I’m kinda a neat freak.

To anyone who thinks he should clean and donate? Has no concept of how much work it would entail to do that. He's already donating his time to clean the home.....that's sufficient. Thanks for all you do!

I want to speak in favor of those black and yellow tubs. They're wonderfully stackable and easy to keep neat. On the other hand, I don't plan to ever own as many as in this video. I intend to just use them for seasonal items. My general philosophy is that I have to be able to see the stuff I own. Now there are clear ones just like them, so I wish I'd waited! Otherwise, I like your respectful way of organizing and categorizing stuff. I'm dealing with my own collection of stuff though, to be fair, I'm not dealing with as much stuff as this person! I'm emphasizing the throwing out and creating rules and systems so I don't get back to this point again. What I would really love is, when I'm done, to have an organizer come through my house and help me set up those systems and rules. and, of course, organize what I have in a more sensible manner. Maybe an organizer would even inspire a new round of decluttering!
